Matches
Match previews, fixtures and live context — written for the reader who wants more than a score flash.
01 Fixtures we cover
Every fixture on the desk this week — and for the next month — is listed by competition, with venue, start time and fantasy-lock time on a single strip. The list is rebuilt every match day from the official BCCI, ICC and state-association match reports.
Each fixture carries a one-paragraph preview at minimum, a confirmed XI note once the toss happens and a captain-pick shortlist once the contest is open. Match status moves through SCHEDULED · LIVE · ST-RAINING as the day progresses — same paragraph, updated line, no navigation flicker.
We do not list fixtures we cannot preview properly. Domestic club cricket from third-tier boards and overseas T20 leagues without a broadcast feed will not appear on the desk.
02 Reading a match page
A match page on the desk has four parts in this order: the fixture header (teams, venue, start time, format), the preview (toss, pitch report, form), the fantasy frame (captain shortlist, differential picks, sleepers) and the live update strip (if you reload during the game).
The fantasy frame is the part our readers come for. It assumes you have already read the preview — and it always shows the source of every number, because the captain pick that wins a leaderboard is the captain pick the rest of the desk would also make.
03 Captain pick shortlist
Each fixture gets a three-name captain shortlist once the likely XIs are known. The shortlist is sorted by expected fantasy points, not by salary, and the names are annotated with the role context (top-order, death bowler, impact player).
If a shortlist does not exist yet, that means the teams are not confirmed and we are not pretending. Come back after the toss.
Cross-reference: the global fantasy logic at the Fantasy tips library, the per-role logic at Captain & vice-captain, the live points reference at Points system.
04 Why we do not carry live odds
This desk is editorial, not a bookmaker. Live odds on Indian fantasy platforms are a separate product offered by partner operators. We will not aggregate them, mirror them or link to affiliate windows that claim to.
If a reader wants the closest equivalent to a live win-probability, the Predictions desk publishes one model per fixture based on recent form, venue and format — it is not the same as a bookmaker margin, and we say so.
05 Match review archive
Every match we preview gets a written review within 24 hours of the result. Reviews include what the captain picks actually returned, where the desk went wrong, and which player-form patterns survived the night.
The archive starts from the 2026 season and grows. Cross-check the Players index to see how a single player’s form tracking survived a season of reviews.
15 Frequently asked
The questions readers most often send to the desk, with answers rooted in the public editorial standards and the platform’s published terms.
When does the desk publish today’s match list?
Today’s fixture list is rebuilt every morning at 09:00 IST and locked after the first fixture toss. Between toss and start you will see a live-update strip on every preview page.
Do you cover overseas T20 leagues?
Yes — BBL, SA20, CPL, ILT20 and the Hundred receive fixture coverage when their window overlaps with India. Coverage of a non-Indian league is shallower than IPL coverage.
Can I request a match preview?
Yes, through the contact form. We do not accept payment for coverage.
Are match pages updated after the toss?
Yes. The likely XI section refreshes after the toss and the fantasy captain shortlist updates within five minutes.
